The A-Ha! research-based play curriculum offers a depth and breadth of unparalleled rich experiences that give your child the best possible preparation for school and life. The program was developed with childhood experts from Harvard, The Brazelton Institute, and the best Reggio-inspired schools and building on the latest research about how your child develops and learns. Our unique pre-school gives your child the foundations for the most fulfilling lives by building independence, connectedness and competences by sparking your child's curiosity about the world in which he lives and providing individual, in-depth exploration and learning. Pre-school children at A-Ha! will have the opportunity to work in our new state-of-the-art classroom while also exploring in our immersive PlayLabs and building on thier explorations art & science and our music & wordsmith rooms. Based on the Theory of Multiple Intelligences, we will help your child acquire the skills they need to explore and represent their ideas about the world through math, language, visual & spatial, social and emotional and bodily kinesthetic symbol systems.

Children are born wired to learn so A-Ha! creates a diverse range of stimulating environments and situations for them to master. Our professional staff ensure they develop and employ all their budding skills, dispositions and understandings to reach their own personal and meaningful goals.

They exercise their mind as they solve authentic problems that require numercy, communicating, social negotiating and more. They learn how to learn and become self confident, self directed learners who can think critically and creatively and who can connect to and develop deep relationships with the things and people in their world.
A-Ha! achieves these goals by listening to the ideas of children. Every thing grows from a deep listening. Children come with ideas and the teachers job is to support and develop those ideas. This is what happens at A-Ha! whether figuring out how shadows are made or designing the city's water system that feed the park fountains and street fire hydrants. Children take their initial ideas and build broader and deeper relationships with the world, it's things and people. This learning happens in the context of a community where children come to respect each others ideas and build upon the ideas of others.

A-Ha! Preschoolers are special; they deserve a special place where they can learn and grow. In addition to access to the PlayLabs, our preschool classroom is organized into multiple intelligence learning centers for in depth explorations across the broad range of your child's abilities. Individual attention is given to each student to design a program for his or her unique developmental strenghts and needs.

Each week Preschoolers will spend some time in our unique PlayLabs, immersive environments designed around materials that are meant to intrigue, stimulate, and provoke real-life problem solving. Imagine your child in a room full of blocks . . . big and small, tall and short, hollow and solid, hard and soft. Imagine him or her building elaborate abstract structures, cities and castles . . . your child will delight as he or she learns how to create things that are beautiful and unique. Other environments include fabric and beads, water and ice, color and transparency, light & shadow and many others.
The A-Ha! art studio takes PlayLab materials to the next level. Once your child has had the opportunity to explore the special PlayLab environment, he or she will create beautiful take-home projects in the studio. Imagine your child has just spent time building with blocks . . . he then goes into the art studio where color, glue and supplemental materials will enable him to create a permanent structure to take home. The experts at A-Ha! focus on the process of creation - children are encouraged to pick out their own materials and spend as much time as they want on their projects.
The majority of time will be spent in A-Ha!'s newly designed Preschool classroom. Here the children will tackle the interests and problems that intrigue them most. During classroom time, preschoolers will meet to discuss plans for the day and will then work in the areas they choose on the projects of their choice. The children will work on their ideas across a broad range of ways to represent and express their understandings.
Blocks are wonderful for mathematical and structured thinking. Small and large, soft and hard, nesting blocks, liquid filled blocks and more. Preschoolers will be able to pick out what materials are essential for their structures. A platform and grid system will enable them to create beautiful hanging pieces. Your children will be proud to share their creations with you!
Various writing implements in a spectrum of colors will be available to your child so that he or she can create personalized pictures, letters and stories. Everyone involved in the classroom community will be able to view these creations so that they can get to know each child. Mailboxes will be provided for every child and they will be encouraged to communicate with one another through special letters.
Soft beanbags and cushions decorate this area so that children have a special quiet area to read and reflect. Age appropriate books will be provided and the collection will grow and change as we observe the unique needs and desires of the children. We welcome parents/caregivers into the classroom and this is an area where you can share some very special time with your child.
Pretend play is a favorite of young children and we believe it is important to foster this desire. The A-Ha! Preschool has its very own kitchen and dress-up area. Teachers will help children create stories that they will act out with one another. Imagine your little girl "getting married" or your little boy cooking an elaborate "meal" for his friends.
Plants and animals will have a special place in this corner, so that children can care for them and watch them grow and develop. We recognize that children take pride in watching as the living things they have cared for evolve. Practical life activities will include the use of every day utensils so that they can learn how to pour, transfer, mix, and more. Extension activities will be suggested so that you can help your child be more independent at home

Before your child attends his or her first day at the A-Ha! Preschool, we will get to know you and your child. We want to know about your life at home: what you do for fun, who you like to spend time with, where you enjoy spending time together. We want to know about your child: what he or she loves to play with, who his or her friends are, favorite foods, toys and activities. This all helps to quickly establish a sense of community at A-Ha! |

Special family books will be created and will be accessible in the classroom so that the students can get to know each other. The sense of community is paramount in the process of kids and families. The children come to respect and build upon the ideas from all children in the community. Different types of communication between students will be encouraged. As the semester progresses, the classroom will be decorated with pictures and stories about each child and about groups of children. Preschoolers will delight in sharing these stories with you and other family members who are welcome to visit at any time.

We truly believe that it is important to communicate with families about each child. The A-Ha! preschool teachers will observe the children closely on a daily basis. Our goal is to capture the learning process and to share it among the students and with you.
We document your child's learning with images and stories to reveal unique thoughts and creations of the children.

We use videos to capture the details that cannot be communicated thoroughly enough through daily conversations.. We want to partner with you in identifying what is unique and special about your child and as team ensure his or her strengths fully develop.
